Your meter has been recording your usage every thirty minutes for as long as it has been installed. That record is yours. ComEd will hand it back to you as a file, and it is the same file our interval analyzer reads. Here is how to pull it.
Worth a minute first: do you actually need the export. Several of the questions people pull it for are already answered by the bill in front of them, and it is cheaper to find that out before the download than after.
What you need. A ComEd online account and a smart meter (nearly every ComEd meter is one now). The data covers up to the last 24 months on a recording meter. A home account or a business account both work.
The steps.
- Sign in to ComEd My Account.
- Open Green Button, then choose Download My Data.
- Pick the interval usage, the detailed reading rather than the monthly summary, and the date range you want. A full year is a good start; it captures every season.
- Download. ComEd usually hands you a .csv file. A .xml export works too. If it arrives as a .zip, unzip it first.
That is the whole file. It is the record behind every number on your bill.
Read it. Drop the file into the free interval analyzer. It reads your load profile straight from the export: the load that runs around the clock, the peaks that drive demand charges, and whether your usage would fit hourly pricing. Nothing you type, nothing estimated. It reads what the meter recorded.
