Load factor describes how consistently a building draws electricity by comparing its average demand to its peak demand. Buildings with a low load factor spike well above how they normally run, while those with a high load factor stay closer to a steady level. Because demand charges are based on peak demand rather than total energy use, that shape has a real effect on what a commercial account pays. The load factor calculator works out yours from the total kWh and peak kW on your bill and explains what the number means for your demand charges.
