One message, sent only when a customer’s report is ready, after they tick an unchecked box and give us their number. No marketing, ever.
1. Who we are and what the messages are for
Phantom Grid LLC is an Illinois company. A customer uploads their own electricity bill at phantomgrid.io/bill-check, and we reconstruct what their electricity actually costs from the utility’s filed rates. We sell no equipment and take no commission.
Some customers also ask us to request their detailed interval usage data from their utility on their behalf. That request is not instant: the utility takes a few days to return the file, and we then read it and email the customer what it shows.
The text message exists for one reason: to tell that customer their report is ready. We send no marketing, no promotions and no recurring messages of any kind.
2. The only opt-in path, step by step
There is exactly one way to opt in. It is on a public page, it requires no account and no payment, and it is reached like this:
- Go to https://phantomgrid.io/bill-check/.
- Upload a PDF of your own electricity bill.
- After the bill is read, choose to have us request your interval data and select the option to have the utility send that data to Phantom Grid.
- The checkbox appears. It is unchecked.
- Tick it and enter your mobile number. The number field only appears once the box is ticked.
That path requires uploading a bill. The section below is the same opt-in, with the same wording and the same behaviour, and it does not.
3. Sign up for text alerts
This is a working opt-in, not an illustration. The wording is the live sentence, and the control behaves exactly as it does inside the application: the box starts unchecked, the number field does not exist until the box is ticked, and the button does nothing until both are real.
The box is unchecked by default. It is never pre-selected, never bundled with any other agreement, and no other action on this site reads it. Consent to messaging is not a condition of using the service, and the sentence says so: the request goes in either way.
4. What we send, and how often
One message per request. It is sent only when that customer’s report is ready to view. There is no recurring schedule and no second message unless the customer submits another request.
Sample message:
Phantom Grid: your electricity report is ready to view at phantomgrid.io. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
5. How to stop, and how to get help
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help. You can also email admin@phantomgrid.io and we will remove your number.
Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
A number given as part of a report request is deleted once that report has been sent, in line with the deletion promise made at the point of consent. A number registered on this page has no report attached to it yet, so it is held with the consent wording it was given under until you ask us to remove it or until the report it was registered for has been sent. Email admin@phantomgrid.io and it is deleted.
