Reconcile your ComEd demand charge

The demand charge is the biggest line on a commercial ComEd bill, and it is set by a single 30-minute interval. This reconstructs that interval from your own meter data and reconciles the charge to the bill, to the cent.

What this tool does

A ComEd commercial demand charge is built from one number: your highest 30-minute interval of the billing period, priced by your delivery class. The bill shows you the final charge, not the moment that produced it. Upload your interval export and enter a few numbers off the bill, and Phantom Grid finds that single interval, recomputes the Distribution Facilities charge from ComEd’s own tariff, and reconciles it against what you were billed.

What you get back

The reconciled result resolves into the demand trace, the half-hour that set the charge marked on it, and the provenance behind every number, each traced to your own data and the published tariff. Where the reconstruction matches the bill, the charge is confirmed to the cent. Nothing is asserted without a source. This tool is free, and you run it yourself: you gather the numbers and upload one bill’s interval file. It checks the demand charge and nothing else on the bill. The bill reader rebuilds the other charges from the PDF alone, and is free too. No commission.
